Katy Knight Joins Global Leaders in Dubai to Explore the Future of AI and Leadership

In April, we celebrated Siegel President and Executive Director Katy Knight’s selection for the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders Class of 2026. The timing felt especially meaningful, offering an opportunity to build new connections and perspectives at an important moment in Siegel’s work. As AI reshapes economies and societies across borders, the questions surrounding its governance, infrastructure, and impact increasingly call for collaboration beyond any one sector or country.

Philanthropy, too, is exploring how to strengthen shared practices, engage more deeply with technical standards, and remain a trusted steward of the resources and relationships entrusted to it. The Young Global Leaders community offers Katy an opportunity to learn alongside leaders tackling some of the defining questions of our time, build relationships across sectors, and bring new perspectives back to Siegel’s work with our grantees.

Last week, the community gathered in Dubai for the inaugural Annual Meeting of Global Future Leaders, convened by the World Economic Forum in partnership with the UAE Government and Dubai Future Foundation. The meeting brought together leaders from government, business, academia, science, and civil society to explore practical responses to shared global challenges.

Katy joined conversations on leadership, artificial intelligence, collaboration and strategic thinking, including a panel during the closing plenary on how to create good jobs in the age of AI and shape AI applications that deliver on the promise of social good. Across five Opportunity Labs, participants worked backward from desired outcomes for the next decade to identify the decisions, partnerships and investments needed today.
