Alex Bolton
Tech Policy Lab, University of Washington
Alex is the Executive Director of the Tech Policy Lab, a unique interdisciplinary collaboration at the University of Washington founded by faculty from the School of Law, the Information School, and the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering. Among a wide variety of responsibilities as the Executive Director, Alex provides leadership for the Lab; hosts weekly campus-wide tech policy discussions that bring together law students, PhD students, medical students and undergraduates from a wide variety of majors; co-instructs a Technology Law, Policy and Ethics course; and serves as a substantive expert on tech policy. Alex is also a founding member of the Public Tech Leadership Collaborative Steering Committee, a peer learning collective of scholars, researchers, and government leaders committed to addressing the social and cultural implications of data and technology.
Previously, he spent time in state government and higher education in a variety of roles, including working for the late Daniel J. Evans, former Washington Governor and U.S. Senator. He has a JD from the University of Washington School of Law, an MPA from the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Policy & Governance, and BAs from the University of Washington in Economics and Political Science.
